Congress of Starlings • Monty & Rose
I’m the lucky one here. On Feb 6, I’ll be doing a concert with some of my favorite people and in celebration of two of Chicago’s most famous birds. Lloyd Brodnax King will be joining me with his delightful flute, vocal harmonies, songs and guitar. Together, we’re sharing the stage with the breathtaking songs of the Congress of Starlings (Andrea Bunch and Aerin Tedesco). PLUS, there will be a brief documentary film shown at the start of the night telling the story of Monty and Rose—two endangered piping plovers who were born on Montrose beach and won the hearts of Chicago conservationists to help them survive. PLus Monty and Rose prevented the beautiful beach and Magic Hedge from being overrun by an invasive rock festival. Congress of Starlings wrote the original music for the documentary that will be played this evening. I’m very excited to be a part of all of this—as birdsong has always played a big part in my own compositions.
Concert will take place on Feb 6. Tickets are $18. Click here for link.
