Mississippi River Suite, Part III (video)
This is the 3rd of 13 videos highlighting the tracks of Mississippi River Suite CD. Today was a powerful day as I witnessed my wife Nina, helping to lead a local food pantry (Care for Real) open a new distribution center where tonight over 300 people, from the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago, are having dinner thanks to the food provided by Care For Real. In this tumultuous time, it is a life force to witness people being good to one another, and doing good for one another. I’m awestruck by these acts that I see.
And if that weren’t enough, I have to share more about Nina. She also volunteers with CBM (Chicago Bird Monitors) who help rescue wounded birds. There are many that migrate across Lake Michigan which leads directly to the tall buildings of Chicago. And they crash into those buildings, and some don’t survive. But some do. They are rescued by CBM volunteers who catch the wounded and struggling birds and get them to a rehab center who help them recover and set them free. Right now is migration season and thousands of thousands of birds are flying through the Chicago skies en-route to a place they’ll call home for a season, until it’s time to migrate again.
And all of this brings me to the political moment we are witnessing where the country yearns and cries out loud for good leadership, only to find a GOP administration riddled with hypocrisy. The Mississippi River Suite is political art with a shout out to those who care and do good. Thanks for listening.
