Mississippi River Suite reaches top 10 on Folk Charts!
I’m delighted and honored to say that the Mississippi River Suite CD broke into the top 10 on the Folk Alliance International Folk Radio Chart. This chart from 121 DJ’s tracking 487 playlists tracks airplay from all these places. One particular track, Which Side Are You On? ENOUGH came in at #7 on the Song Chart.
As an artist, I came in at #12 with Bob Dylan at #10, Lorretta Lynn at #3, and a pal of mine from the Old Town School wayback machine Tim Grimm at #1.
I’m grateful because this is genuinely thoughtful recognition from these hardworking DJ’s who week after week listen and select new works for their shows. The Chicago area has the Midnight Special on WFMT with Marilyn Rea Beyer (formerly hosted Rich Warren) . WDCB has the The Folk Festival hosted by Lilli Kuzma. WNUR has a Folk Show hosted by Kathy Kelly, Sue Kessell and Ron Lewis. All of these shows have graciously supported the works of people like me over the years.
This was my seventh CD featuring my great friend Zahra Glenda Baker delivering all of the spoken word text. A host of Chicago’s finest musicians were also on this record—among them is Lloyd Brodnax King on flute, and Nora Barton on cello with John Abbey as recording engineer and co-producer.
